Moliets is a notorious beach for European surfers and sun worshipers. Situated along the south west coast of France just 20 minutes north of the infamous Hossegor, Moliets serves up some much friendlier waves and this is what makes it such a popular surf spot for beginners with Star Surf Camps and numerous surf schools delivering surf lessons throughout the summer.

However there are several sand-bars which re appear after the winter swells that set up for the summer providing more predictable and more critical waves for the intermediate and advanced surfers. These include a fee reeling right handers that can offer 150meter plus rides up north from the Moliets river and casually referred to as the north Bank. Make sure to be respectful to locals and be aware of strong currents and heavy waves on the low tides especially.

On the high tide you can expect there to be a left hander and another right breaking on opposite sides of the estuary from the river. Luckily for the surfers these waves break well on a higher tide making sure there are waves throughout the tides in Moliets. In terms of swell moliets will break form 1ft through to about 6ft before it starts to max out and close out. The winds are typical for Europe and if your looking to score the best conditions the mornings are best before the onshore winds kick in.

Moliets can often be crowded, if your after some less crowded waves then head north for a solo mission and you can often be rewarded with an empty line up with you and your friends.
