Carcans has plentiful waves on offer for surfers of any calibre ranging from complete beginner to advanced. The coastline is made up of beach breaks of varying quality. Carcans plage is a relatively cruisey beach break which has small windows of perfection which depend on drastic tides, swell direction and wind factors. Directly out from the main lifeguard hut has a consistent sand bank offering lefts and rights depending on the swell direction with dominance on a long wally left. This peak does become crowded during summer.

To the north are two more inconsistent but potentially great quality sandbanks that can produce long rights up to 100m which pull less crowds. For the beginner to intermediate range surfer Carcans is a perfect spot to hone your skills especially around the low tides where sand banks are shallow and rips are at a minimum.
